Gilmore Girls may be off the air, but if Lorelai and Rory were still around (and were actually real people) they would love the picturesque Long Island town of Bellport as much as we did when we recently visited. Wandering along the town's main street, South Country Road, we browsed the gorgeous antique shops, ate a delicious lunch at The Bellport Restaurant, and even caught some local gossip at the Bellport Methodist Church's quaint "Ol'e Tyme Country Fair", which included an auction, arts and crafts, and mouth-watering baked goods. While we skipped the greens, the Bellport Country Club offers day rates for interested golfers. Another way to round our your day: drive across the nearby Smith Point Bridge to Smith Point County Park on Fire Island and enjoy a walk on the beach.
